Horrid Harsha Do not send your child to Harsha! Our daughter was depressed and mentioned suicide a few months ago. Scared, we had her admitted to Harsha. She was kept there for seven days. We went to visitation every day we were allowed and the days when there is no visitation we spoke with her on the phone. Her depression worsened every day she was there. She was supposed to have intensive therapy while she was there but that was absolutely NOT the case. Most days the kids were left to play cards or spend quiet time in their rooms. She had a few minutes everyday with a therapist but the scheduled activities we were promised never happened. She was left to dwell on her thoughts and contemplate her suicidal thoughts more than if she had been at home and going to school. By the time the doctor finally released her, she was more damaged than when she had been admitted. She was traumatized by some of the things the other kids told her, some things she witnessed, and some things she was put through; such as a strip search when one of the other kids kept a plastic knife after dinner one evening. We immediately entered our daughter into therapy with a reputable psychiatrist and psychologist, neither of which Harsha referred us to. Harsha referred us only to underqualified therapists. After a couple of months, our daughter had a small break down and admitted she hadn't been honest with us about how miserable and suicidal she had been since leaving Harsha because she did not want to go back there. After we promised her she will never go back there and we would find somewhere safe for her to go, she opened up about how depressed and suicidal she had been over the last few months. Please, PLEASE do your research before sending your child to this facility. I wish I had done more research and not just listened to a social worker at the ER.
