My son broke his arm in a soccer game, we took him to Lakewood ranch hospital, a in network provider. Never saw a doctor, left with arm in a sling. Went to another doctor's office on Monday morning, they said he should've never left with a sling should've been a cast. Hospital had said it was a bow fracture, the real doc said it was complete break of both bones in the wrist. The hospital billing has been horrible, I'm now getting bills from the hospital that insurance is denying payment because it's been past 90 days. Oh and now I'm getting bills from some out of network doctor that we never saw once. The billing dept is absolutely horrible, we took the time to find a in network provider, provided all insurance cards and information they needed, still had to provide all information again later when they just tried to bill us. Insurance denied it a couple of times because of wrong coding, now its conveniently past 90 days and they just decided to send us the bill. Would not recommend this place.

In January 2015 I underwent hip prosthesis at the Lakewood Ranch Medical center. After anesthesia I emerged incontinent. A Foley catheter balloon had been inflated in my urethra rupturing it. I am now incontinent. Because of my age, 83, and because catheter injuries are apparently so common, no lawyer would help me get an explanation as to how this happened. The surgeon, Vance Askins did an excellent job. My hip is now totally without pain and functioning normally. However, his privileges at the Medical Center are obviously poorly supported by incompetent support staff. For those scheduled for surgery beware the dangers.
