My experience - where to begin? My ortho. surgeon of record left for "family emergency" out-of-state FIVE HOURS before the time my surgery scheduled. I was kept in hospital, in loud semi-private room for four days before another surgeon was "assigned" to me. Until day of my release, a total of eleven days, I was not provided with diabetic meals and was denied my anti-anxiety medicine to cure my "addiction." A private psychiatrist prescribed this medication; I'd been taking it for nine years. She was not consulted; she stated later that she would not have allowed it. Was not seen by hospitalist until day six, only nurses. I will NEVER allow myself to be admitted to any UHS hospital again. I still have nightmares.

My ER visit went as many do--a long wait while worried about my health with little to no updates on my status, and fair/reasonable care once someone finally stopped by six hours later. The nightmare began when I didn't receive a bill for months, only to have it sent directly to collections. Called Emory Midtown, they said it wouldn't affect my credit, but they also refused to make such a claim in writing (letter or email). So if they do report it, it's only my word against theirs. Extremely frustrating when I've done everything right. Never has it been so hard to pay a bill without trouble when I've been willing and able to do so all along!
