In April 2017 I went to Emergency Care at Baylor Trophy Club. My insurance company was contacted and verified that this facility was in network. It was not until after I was billed that I discovered that Dr. Verdeyen, the treating physician was out of network and the charge for services was an exorbitant $2,261. She misdiagnosed my condition and I in fact had near fatal brain cancer. I filed a complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance but this did not produce any favorable results. I must now pay $678.30 rather than it being covered under the deductible and coinsurance for in-network providers for which I have met my maximum out of pocket limits. Potential patients should be aware of this practice and use another facility where the doctor is in-network.
